Where it stands
Certified aircraft; operational trials
The EH216-S takes off vertically and follows managed flight routes without an onboard pilot. Its compact passenger cabin and short-range specification place it in the sightseeing and local air-mobility category, rather than the role of a long-distance private aircraft.
EHang has achieved significant approvals in China, but certification must be separated from service availability. In August 2026 the company described ongoing trials at Guangzhou and Hefei and an internal point-to-point route. Those statements do not establish an unrestricted public booking network.
Our assessment: the aircraft is one of the clearest examples of progress from prototype to regulated platform. The next practical question is how reliably particular operators can provide useful journeys. Travelers should check the specific service, location and conditions rather than assume that aircraft approval transfers to any proposed route.
Availability
Aircraft sold to operators; public ticketed service availability remains site-specific and was not verified in the latest update.
Certification & operating context
CAAC type, production and aircraft airworthiness approvals; two associated operators received operating certificates in March 2025. August 2026 reporting still describes trial operations and future commercial readiness.
What to watch next
Named public ticketed routes, operating schedules and published service limitations.
