Where it stands
Prototype testing / commercial design development
Readers familiar with the VX4 will now encounter Valo in Vertical’s commercial materials. The planned aircraft is intended to carry a pilot and four passengers, with manufacturer targets of up to 100 miles and 150 mph. These are development targets, not a currently bookable service specification.
The company reported piloted transition progress in 2026 and opened an assembly center in September. Its latest facility announcement targets type certification in 2029. Vertical also began a review of strategic and financial alternatives, making continued resources an important part of the program’s outlook.
Our assessment: the program has demonstrated an important flight concept, but the next challenge is to translate prototype learning into an approved, repeatable commercial aircraft. Follow the Valo certification design, conforming aircraft and actual industrial progress rather than carrying older VX4 launch forecasts forward unchanged.
