Xinhua reported that ARIDGE marked production of its thousandth electric propulsion-system set at its Guangzhou facility on August 10, 2026. The plant manufactures the airborne component of the Land Aircraft Carrier, the modular flying-car project previously associated with the XPENG AEROHT name.
The unit being counted is important. A propulsion-system milestone is not a count of aircraft delivered to customers. Nor does it establish that the aircraft has completed certification. It does provide a concrete indicator that the company is working on repeatable component production rather than relying only on a single display vehicle.
For us, the strongest manufacturing milestone combines increased output with evidence of consistency. A production line must turn out parts that meet the approved design repeatedly, with records that allow problems to be identified later. Raw output alone says little about acceptance rates, rework or the cost of building a complete aircraft.
For potential buyers, the next useful milestones are aircraft approvals, documented handovers and a support system that remains available after delivery. For the industry, the factory raises a broader question: can automotive manufacturing discipline be adapted to aviation’s verification demands? The propulsion announcement offers an observable step toward that goal, while leaving customer availability and practical ownership questions open.
