Joby reported a piloted flight from its Margham test facility to Al Maktoum International Airport on November 9, 2025. The company’s November 17 announcement described a 17-minute journey and named planned vertiport locations at Dubai Mall, Atlantis the Royal and the American University of Dubai.
This is an archival milestone in the development of Dubai’s air taxi network. It connects two tasks that are often discussed separately: proving an aircraft can fly a route and establishing places where a future service would be useful. A destination network gives the aircraft a transport purpose beyond demonstration flying.
SkyVehicle’s analysis is that site choice reveals the early customer proposition. Airports, hotels, shopping destinations and business districts offer concentrated travel demand. However, a useful network also needs convenient access for the surrounding neighborhoods and reliable alternatives when one destination is unavailable.
Neither the reported flight nor the naming of sites established a fully operating public service. The company’s launch forecasts in that announcement were forecasts made in 2025. To assess later progress, compare those plans with completed facilities, current approvals and actual operating announcements. The historical test remains significant without being mistaken for proof that every part of the proposed network is now open.
