Uber and Joby previewed their planned Uber Air booking experience in Dubai on February 25, 2026. The proposal would offer qualifying trips inside the Uber app, including ground pickup and drop-off. Joby said at that time it expected to carry its first Dubai passengers later in 2026.
The important product idea is a complete trip. A traveler wants to reach a hotel, airport or meeting, not simply buy minutes in an aircraft. Combining ground and air legs could reduce the work of planning separate transfers, provided the service can coordinate them when real conditions change.
From a traveler’s perspective, we would watch the less glamorous features most closely: accurate pickup timing, clearly stated baggage limits, transparent total pricing and an easy fallback when a flight cannot depart. A familiar app can simplify discovery, but it cannot remove the physical constraints of weather, aircraft capacity and landing-site access.
The February announcement was a preview with a forward-looking launch expectation. It should not be read as evidence that any eligible Uber user could already book an electric flight. The practical milestone to watch is a live, authorized service with published coverage and conditions, followed by evidence that the connections work consistently for ordinary customers.
